Topic: Building a Scalable online Transaction System

With the advent of several specialized components and techniques, it is easy to get confused and make wrong choices. Today's online ransaction systems are comprised of several layers and the trick is to ensure that one engineers these systems with the right design principles. For example, the http request layer requires a different optimization and caching strategy compared with the applications layer, and the data base layer. In addition, one needs to understand the nature of the transaction to segment through put and issues related to updates and security.

This talk will cover simple design principals as means to achieve a stable, and scalable online transaction system, leveraging open source components and standard techniques.
