Biography

Prof. S. C. Katyal has 35 years of teaching and research experience. He has 21 years experience of teaching Post Graduate/M Phil Classes and 14 years of teaching undergraduate classes at B.Tech level. Prof. Katyal joined Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla in 1982 as Lecturer in the Department of Physics and became Professor in 1998 and Chairman of Physics Department in 2002. He joined Jaypee University of Information Technology, Solan in 2003 and Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, Noida in January 2011. In 1986 he was awarded JSPS Fellowship of the “Japan Society for the Promotion of Science” and worked for research at Faculty of Engineering, Kanazawa University, Japan for one year in the field of Photo-induced Phenomenon in Double Layered Chalcogenide Thin Films. Prof. Katyal has 62 research publications in the International/National Journals and 32 in International/National conferences to his credit. He has attended 13 schools, seminars and conferences in India and abroad. He has successfully supervised 4 Ph.D and 9 M Phil students till date. He has been involved mainly in the research areas of electronic and structural properties of non-crystalline/crystalline materials. He has been member of many academic bodies at H P University and other Universities. He has been an expert member for National and H P State Children Science Congress, member of the advisory committee of Science and Technology Entrepreneur Park, a Society of Himachal Pradesh Government and Government of India and is a life member of Indian Physics Association. He has been the coordinator of Refresher courses of Academic Staff College, Nuclear Science Centre, New Delhi and SERC School of DST, Govt. of India conducted at Himachal Pradesh University.
