Aims and Objectives of Symposium

The aim of the International Symposium on Emerging Trends and Technologies in Libraries and Information Services ETTLIS 2008 is to bring researchers, academicians, business community and research scholars on a common platform to share their experiences, innovative ideas and research findings about the aspects of emerging trends and technologies in the field of knowledge resource centres and information services. It also proposes to discuss the practical challenges encountered by them and the solutions adopted. The major objectives of the symposium are:

  • To create awareness among the LIS professionals on the latest developments in the library and information services;
  • To find out the emerging technologies for delivering quality and value added services;
  • To offer an opportunity to put forth innovative ideas, debate some of the innovative ideas and promote closer cooperation and development among the  information professionals;
  • To promote special libraries and special library professionals;
  • To strengthen the academic collaborations and strategic alliances for the development of special libraries, and
  • To facilitate interaction with experts in order to bridge the knowledge gap between developing and the developed countries.
