  Prof. V. K. Jain obtained M.Sc (Tech) degree in Electronics from the Birla Institute of Science and Technology, Pilani in the year 1975 and Ph.D degree in Communication Engineering from the Electrical Engineering Department, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IITD), New Delhi in the year 1982. During the period December 1978 to November 1982, he was Research Officer with the Research Department, All India Radio, Government of India. Since December 1982, he has been on the faculty of the Electrical Engineering Department, IITD wherein he became Professor in the year 1997. He got DAAD International Long Term Guest Lectureship 2002-03, Silver Jubilee Award for best selling author on the book Optical Communications: Components and Systems from M/s Narosa Publishing House in the year 2002, Fellowship to visit Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advance Scientific Research, Bangalore (Dec. 1995) and so many. His research interests are in Photonics Switching and Networking, Optical Fiber and Space Communications, Wireless Communications, Digital and Data Communications, Noise Study and Modeling.
