Dr. Amanpreet Kaur

Biography

Dr. Amanpreet Kaur is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Jaypee Institute of Information Technology (JIIT), Noida, with over a decade of teaching and research experience. Throughout her career spanning more than 10 years, she has taught a wide range of core and advanced subjects including Operating Systems, Distributed Systems, Data Structures, Computer Programming, Mobile Computing, and Cryptography & Network Security. She has also supervised numerous graduate and postgraduate theses, mentoring students in both academic and applied research projects.

Dr. Kaur received her Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from JIIT, Noida (2014–2020). Her doctoral thesis, Efficient Node Localization Schemes for Wireless Sensor Networks, was supervised by Dr. Govind P. Gupta, Dr. Sangeeta Mittal, and the late Prof. Padam Kumar. Her research interests lie in optimization techniques, wireless sensor networks (localization, coverage, and connectivity), and soft computing-based algorithms, with ongoing contributions in these fields.

She holds an M.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering (Information Security) from NIT Jalandhar (2007–2009), where her thesis focused on Enhanced Image Steganography Techniques under the guidance of Prof. Renu Dhir and Prof. Geeta Sikka. She completed her B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar (2002–2006).

Dr. Amanpreet Kaur is deeply committed to fostering innovation, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities among her students. By blending research-driven insights with classroom teaching, she continues to inspire and guide the next generation of engineers and researchers in computer science.

Research Highlights

Dr. Amanpreet Kaur developed efficient node localization schemes to improve accuracy and reduce energy consumption in WSNs. Research addressed critical issues of coverage, connectivity, and deployment optimization, ensuring reliability in large-scale sensor-based applications.. She has applied metaheuristic and soft computing algorithms (such as genetic algorithms, swarm intelligence, and fuzzy-based methods) to solve complex problems in wireless communication, resource allocation, and data security. She has also explored the use of fuzzy logic, evolutionary algorithms, and neural-inspired models for designing adaptive systems in localization, routing, and performance improvement of networks. During M.Tech, she proposed an Enhanced Image Steganography Technique for secure information hiding, integrating cryptographic principles with image-processing methods to improve robustness and confidentiality. She has investigated scalable solutions for distributed systems and mobile environments, focusing on fault tolerance, performance optimization, and efficient resource management. She has guided multiple graduate and postgraduate research theses, covering topics in wireless networks, cryptography, and system optimization. Encouraged interdisciplinary projects bridging theoretical models with real-world applications.
