Biography

Dr. Dinesh C. S. Bisht is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Jaypee Institute of Information Technology (JIIT), Noida, where he has been a faculty member since 2013. He earned his Ph.D. in Mathematics, with a minor in Electronics and Communication Engineering, from G. B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Uttarakhand.

With over 16 years of teaching and research experience, Dr. Bisht has taught a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Applied Mathematics, Soft Computing, Optimization, and Fuzzy Logic. Prior to joining JIIT, he served as Assistant Professor at NorthCap University (formerly ITM University), Gurugram.

His research interests include Soft Computing, Fuzzy Time Series Forecasting, Fuzzy Optimization, Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM), and Nature-Inspired Algorithms. He has published over 50 research papers in reputed national and international journals and conferences, edited three international books, contributed to several book chapters, and supervised three Ph.D. scholars and two M.Sc. theses.

Dr. Bisht is currently the Coordinator of the B.Tech. Mathematics and Computing program at JIIT, a program he helped launch in 2024. His key administrative contributions include active roles in the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Departmental Quality Assurance Cell (DQAC), Programme Assessment Committee (PAC), IPR Cell, and various admission, audit, and Ph.D. coordination committees. He also served as the Alumni In-Charge for the Department of Mathematics and played a pivotal role in organizing the JIIT Entrepreneurs Meet (JEM 2022). Earlier, he founded the ENACTUS chapter at ITM University, Gurugram.

He has served as Convener for major events such as the RAMSA conference series and several Faculty Development Programs (FDPs) on Machine Learning and Soft Computing. He has chaired technical sessions at prestigious international conferences including ICMTEA (2020–2023), RAMSA, and the Congress on Intelligent Systems (2020).

He is Associate Editor of the International Journal of Mathematical, Engineering and Management Sciences (IJMEMS) and serves as a reviewer for several leading international journals including Applied Soft Computing (Elsevier), Neural Computing and ApplicationsIJFSA (IGI Global).

Research Highlights

Dr. Dinesh C. S. Bisht’s research spans the interdisciplinary domains of Soft ComputingFuzzy LogicMulti-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM), and Fuzzy Time Series Forecasting, with applications in decision support systems, hydrology, and engineering optimization. His work integrates mathematical modeling with intelligent computing techniques to address real-world problems involving uncertainty, imprecision, and complexity.

Dr. Bisht has made significant contributions in developing and improving fuzzy time series models, hybrid forecasting frameworks, and fuzzy optimization techniques. His recent work explores hybrid models combining Fuzzy Time Series with deep learning architectures like Bi-LSTM and Temporal Convolutional Networks (TCNs), enhancing prediction accuracy in time-dependent systems such as student enrollment, water demand forecasting, and financial series.

In the area of MCDM, he has worked extensively on methods such as TOPSISELECTRE, and Fuzzy AHP, applying them to complex decision environments including transportation, sustainability assessment, and performance evaluation. His research also extends to swarm intelligence, where he has supervised work on link prediction in social networks using graph-based and evolutionary algorithms.

With over 50 research publications in reputed SCI/Scopus-indexed journals and conferences, and editorial roles in international journals, Dr. Bisht actively contributes to scholarly dissemination. He also promotes research culture by organizing conferences like RAMSA and serving as a reviewer for journals published by ElsevierSpringer, and IGI Global.

His ongoing research is focused on advancing fuzzy time series forecasting and multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) methods by integrating soft computing, deep learning, and optimization techniques to enhance decision support systems and predictive analytics across diverse application domains.
