Dr. Kanu Priya

Biography

Kanu Priya is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the department of Humanities and Social Sciences, JIIT, Noida. She has completed her PhD from the Department of English, Jamia Millia Islamia in 2024 as well her MPhil from the same department in 2019. She has pursued MA in English from University of Hyderabad from 2014-2016 and BA Honours in English from Banaras Hindu University from 2011-2014. 

She has secured university gold medals in both BA and MA. She has also bagged the CT Indira prize for securing first position in MA in University of Hyderabad. She has qualified UGC NET-JRF in 2018. Before joining JIIT, she has worked as an Assistant Professor in the School of Liberal Education, Galgotias University and as a Teaching Assistant in Jamia Millia Islamia, teaching courses in English to undergraduate and postgraduate students.  

Research Highlights

Her research interests include Children’s Literature, Postcolonial Studies, Tribal Literature and Communication Studies. She has also translated various poems from Hindi to English. 

She has worked on the writings of Nirmala Putul and Hansda Sowvendra Shekhar, making a comparative study of the representation of Santali women from the insider’s perspective as part of her MPhil dissertation. For her doctoral study, she has looked at the representation of territory and culture; construction and reconstruction of myths; writing and rewriting of history in select Indian English children’s literature focusing on the aspects of nation-building.
