Biography

Dr. Rahul Kaushik received his B. Tech. (Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering) and M.Tech. (Electronics Engineering) degrees from University of Allahabad, India in 2001 and 2003 respectively. He has completed his Ph. D. in the area of Optical Wireless Communication from Jaypee Institute of Information Technology (JIIT), Noida, India in 2017. He combines Twenty years of teaching experience in the field of Electronics and Communication Engineering. Dr. Kaushik joined JIIT in July, 2007 and presently, he is designated as Associate Professor in the department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at JIIT. Prior to this, he served G.L Bajaj Institute of Technology and Management, Greater Noida as Assistant Professor and Head of ECE department. Beyond teaching, he is an active researcher in the areas of optical Communication and wireless communication. He has supervised Ph.D. and M.Tech students and organized many workshops and faculty development programs. He is senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), USA, Fellow of the Institution of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineers (IETE), India and Life member of International Association of Engineers (IAENG).

Research Highlights

Research interests of Dr. Rahul Kaushik lie in the areas of optical communication and wireless communication. His Ph. D research was focused in area of optical wireless communications (OWC). In this research, an analytical framework to evaluate the performance of OWC system in presence of weak turbulence was developed. The novel contribution of his research is obtaining closed form analytical expressions for two important performance measures of OWC channel : average channel capacity and bit error rate (BER). The availability of these measures enables system designer to estimate achievable performance of an optical wireless link in presence of weak turbulence conditions. Besides this, Two Ph.Ds. have been completed under his supervision in the areas of (i) Millimeter wave Radio over fiber systems and (ii) Radio over Free space optical communication Systems. The outcome of his research work is published in 40 indexed Journal articles and conference proceedings.
