Dr. Rishibrind Kumar Upadhyay

Biography

Rishibrind Kumar Upadhyay (LM SMC, SSI, M IEEE) holds a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the Institute of Engineering and Technology, Agra, and a Master of Technology from Delhi Technological University (DTU), Delhi. He has accumulated over three years of experience working with various educational and research institutions, including CSIR-CSIO Chandigarh, Delhi Technological University, and Acharya Narendra Dev College, University of Delhi. He earned his PhD from the Department of Electronics Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi, in 2021-22, with a dissertation titled “Fabrication and Characterization of Some Inorganic/Hybrid Perovskite-Based Photodetectors.” Following his PhD, Rishibrind served as an Assistant Professor (Ad-hoc) in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at the National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal, from January 2022 to September 2022. In September 2022, he joined the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Delhi, as an Assistant Professor. Since July 2023, he has been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, Noida. Rishibrind has published over 50 research articles in international journals and reputed peer-reviewed conferences, authored one book chapter, and holds four Indian patents (two granted). Additionally, he completed advanced training in “Electrochemical Nano-Bio-Sensing and Bio/CMOS Interfaces” through the EPFL Doctoral School in Microsystems and Microelectronics (EDMI), organized by EPFL’s STI School of Engineering and IMT– Institute of Microengineering, Lausanne, Switzerland. He is actively involved in the review process and technical committees of journals and conferences hosted by IEEE, Elsevier, Springer, Wiley, and AIP etc.

Research Highlights

Dr Rishibrind Kumar Upadhyay’s research focuses on semiconductor device fabrication, sensor technologies, and VLSI systems. His work emphasizes the design, fabrication, and comprehensive characterization of nanostructured devices for applications in optoelectronics and gas sensing. This includes the development of innovative nanomaterials and device architectures aimed at enhancing sensitivity, efficiency, and long-term stability.

A significant component of his research is dedicated to flexible and wearable electronic devices, engineered for seamless integration into portable gas sensors and optoelectronic systems, enabling reliable operation across diverse and demanding environments.

In parallel, Dr. Upadhyay conducts modelling and simulation of nanoscale semiconductor devices to gain fundamental insights and optimize electronic properties at the atomic and device levels. This theoretical and computational work supports the development of energy-efficient, high-performance devices for next-generation nanoelectronics systems.

His research involves active collaborations with premier institutions, including IIT Delhi, IIT (BHU) Varanasi, IIT Mandi, and NSUT Delhi, resulting in publications in high-impact journals such as IEEE Electron Device Letters, IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, Applied Physics Reviews, and APL Electronic Devices, etc.
