Biography

Dr. Shivani is an Assistant Professor (Senior Grade) at the Jaypee Institute of Information Technology (JIIT), Noida, India, specializing in semiconductor devices, VLSI fabrication, and sensor technology. She holds a Ph.D. in VLSI Fabrication and Sensor Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology Mandi, an M.Tech. in VLSI Systems and Design and a B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering.

With over 8 years of experience in academia and research, she has expertise in MOSFET fabrication, organic electronics, thin-film deposition, and advanced semiconductor process engineering. She has played a key role in establishing the VLSI Fabrication and Characterisation facility at JIIT and has successfully led multiple student research projects.

Her research domains include micro/nano-electronics, 2D materials, and advanced sensors, with several innovations in methanol sensing, photodetectors, and high-performance transistors. She has collaborated nationally and internationally, including with IMEC Belgium, and contributed to multiple funded projects.

She has received numerous awards, including the Best Oral Presentation (Anusandhan 2016), Best Poster Award (IWNEBD 2018), and the Mukhya Mantri Protsahan Yojana Scholarship

Research Highlights

Dr. Shivani’s research focuses on semiconductor device fabrication, sensor technology, and VLSI systems. Her core work involves MOSFETs, micro-interdigitated electrode-based transistors, organic phototransistors, and functionalized nanomaterials for high-performance electronic devices.

She has demonstrated notable innovations, including the development of 2D HfS₂-based methanol sensors with ultra-fast detection at room temperature, organic phototransistors using CSA-PANI for UV detection, and hybrid heterostructures for photodetection. These technologies have applications in environmental monitoring, photodetection, and next-generation nanoelectronics.

Her work includes collaborations with premier institutions such as IIT Mandi and IMEC Belgium, leading to publications in high-impact journals like IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, Organic Electronics, and ACS Applied Nano Materials.
