Research Highlights

The research is focussed to design and analyze various antennas using substrate integrated waveguide technology, known for high performance planar waveguide for high frequency applications. The research covers the basic aspects for designing a H-plane Horn and cavity backed SIW antennas. The H-plane horn antennas provides a high gain dual band (24.99 GHz and 26.1 GHz) antenna where leaky wave slots are used to achieve pattern reconfigurability at resonant frequency band (i.e. broadside to end fire radiation pattern at 26.1 GHz and broadside radiation pattern at 24.9 GHz). A multiband (quad band), MIMO and MIMO array SIW cavity backed antennas is designed at K and Ka band frequencies. In addition to this circularly polarized cavity backed SIW antennas are designed for millimtere wave frequencies i.e. 25 GHz and 26 GHz. In all these antenna designs a high gain was achieved due to SIW technology. The proposed prototypes were designed using HFSS software, fabricated using PHCNC machine and measured using Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) and anechoic chamber upto 30 GHz.
