Vandana Chandel

Biography

Vandana Chandel is a seasoned media professional and academician with over 16 years of extensive industry experience as a Radio Jockey, News Anchor, Voice-over Artist, and Communication Expert.

She holds a Postgraduate degree in Journalism and Mass Communication and completed her undergraduate studies at University of Delhi from Hindu College, one of India’s premier institutions.

Over the course of her career, she has presented thousands of radio shows and television debate programs and has reported on landmark events including the 2012 Nirbhaya case, the Uttarakhand tragedy (2013), the Commonwealth Games 2010, and the 2014 Indian General Elections, The Demonetization Drive of 2016.  

She is a recipient of the Listeners’ Choice Award for three consecutive years, reflecting her strong audience connect and credibility.

Her professional journey also includes exclusive interviews with prominent political leaders such as Sushma Swaraj, Shahnawaz Hussain, Rajeev Pratap Rudy, Prakash Jaiswal, Sharad Yadav, and Ramesh Bidhuri.

As a voice-over artist, she has lent her voice to reputed platforms including Discovery Channel, Fox Traveller, History TV18, and the commercials division of All India Radio.

She has also worked with a venture led by renowned motivational speaker Vivek Bindra at Bada Business, where she contributed as a Subject Matter Expert in media marketing and digital media presence. She is empaneled as an A-grade freelancer, reflecting her professional excellence and domain expertise.

In the academic domain, Vandana has mentored over 2000 students, conducted 22+ specialized workshops, and guided learners in producing radio shows and podcasts, with a strong focus on making them industry-ready.

She is currently serving as Faculty for Electronic Media, where she effectively blends industry experience with academic teaching to inspire and prepare the next generation of journalists and media professionals. 

Research Highlights

She is currently pursuing her PhD from Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, Noida, with a research focus on Media Diet.

Her area of research explores Media Diet, focusing on how the patterns, frequency, type, and quality of media consumption across traditional and digital platforms influence individuals’ cognition, behaviour, and socio-cultural outlook.

This research examines not only what people consume—including news, entertainment, and social media—but also how they consume, particularly in the context of algorithm-driven exposure and evolving platform ecosystems. It critically analyzes how these factors shape public opinion, mental health, and democratic engagement in contemporary society.

From a policy perspective, Media Diet extends beyond individual habits to become a matter of governance. National and global institutions such as UNESCO, World Health Organization, and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting are increasingly addressing issues related to media literacy, misinformation, digital regulation, and responsible media consumption.

Thus, her research positions Media Diet as a critical intersection of media studies, public policy, and societal well-being, contributing to the understanding of media’s evolving role in the AI-driven digital era.

  • A UGC-registered Professor of Practice with over 15 years of experience in mass communication, spanning radio, television, media training.

  • DeepFake-o-meter for analyzing manipulated audiovisual content  
  • Sightengine for authenticity and content verification  
  • Actively involved in media education and training, conducting workshops and sessions on communication skills, confidence building, digital media awareness, and career opportunities in media studies.
