Mr. Chandan Kumar

Biography

He began his career as a Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at GEC, Bhubaneswar, in May 2014. He has undergone industrial training at Bokaro Steel Limited and vocational training at Rourkela Steel Plant, both are the units of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), a Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Steel, Government of India. He also holds a Vocational CAD certification from the MSME Indo-Danish Tool Room (IDTR), Jamshedpur.

He has done M.Tech in Mechanical System Design from National Institute of Technology, Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir, and earned his B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from Biju Patnaik University of Technology, Rourkela, Odisha.

Mr. Kumar is currently pursuing his Ph.D from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi as a part-time candidate in the Department of Applied Mechanics. 

He joined Jaypee Institute of Information Technology in August 2018 as an Assistant Professor (Grade-I) and a founding member of the Mechanical Engineering and Design Department, and is currently serving as an Assistant Professor (Grade-II) in the MED Department at the main campus of JIIT, Noida.

Research Highlights

His research project at IIT Delhi involves the study of Mechanics-Based Design Against Fatigue Fracture. 

Before joining JIIT, Noida, He was involved in research work at the MTE Division of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research-National Metallurgical Laboratory (CSIR-NML), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, Jamshedpur. 

During his M.Tech, He worked on ‘High Temperature Strain Controlled Fatigue Behaviour of Advanced Ultra-Supercritical Power Plant Alloy INCONEL 740H’ and which got published in the International Journal of Pressure Vessels and Piping, Elsevier(Science Direct) having Impact Factor(IF) of 3.5.

He is Proficient with MATLAB, SciLab, Auto-CAD, Ansys, CATIA, SolidWorks, BRL CAD, FluidSIM, Origin Lab, Advanced Characterization Techniques, and Mechanical Testing Methods along with the knowledge of DBMS, Oracle & Programming Languages.

He has supervised multiple B.Tech Major-Projects at GEC, Bhubaneshwar and several UG Projects at JIIT, Noida.
