Biography

Prof. (Dr.) Krishna Asawa is a seasoned academician and administrator in the Department of CSE/IT at the Jaypee Institute of Information Technology (JIIT), Wish Town campus Noida, with an illustrious career spanning over 27 years in the higher education ecosystem. She earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science in the domain of Artificial Intelligence from Banasthali Vidyapith (2002). She began her academic journey in 1997 as a Lecturer and has since served in regular cadre positions at esteemed institutions, such as Banasthali Vidyapith (1997–1999), MNIT Jaipur (1999–2003), and JIIT (2003 to date), where she was promoted to Professor in 2015.

Her teaching portfolio spans a broad range of subjects, including Data Structures and Algorithms, Theory of Computation, Computer Networks, Computer Architecture, Database Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Neural Networks, Soft Computing, Cryptography Deep Learning, Human–Computer Interaction, and Distributed AI, coupled with an active role in curriculum reforms for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs in CSE, AI & ML, and Information Security. She has published over 75 SCIE/Scopus-indexed papers in refereed Journals and International Conferences, supervised 8 Ph.D. candidates, secured projectsfrom AICTE,JIIT, Noida, and MNIT, Jaipur, and mentored over 250 UG/PG research-based projects. She also contributes to the global academic community as an editorial board member/reviewer for prestigious Journals by ACM, IEEE, Elsevier, Springer, and Wiley, etc

As a strategic academic administrator, she has held several leadership roles, including heading the CSE/IT Department, Deputy Controller of Examinations, Chairperson of the Proctor Board, Member of the Faculty Recruitment Board, and Coordinator of Ph.D. & M.Tech programmes, Coordinator MooC courses, Coordinator Industry Institute Linkage Cell (IILC). She has also contributed to institutional accreditation initiatives (NAAC/NBA) and led the development of institutional facilities, including IoT laboratory, a multidisciplinary research laboratory, and extended computing facilities.

She has played a key role in conceptualizing and executing a wide range of academic development activities, including FDPs, workshops, seminars, guest lectures, panel discussions, hackathons, and training programs under the aegis of the Industry–Institute Linkage Cell (IILC). These initiatives have featured distinguished experts from academia and industry across the globe, aimed at enhancing academic excellence, promoting interdisciplinary learning, and bridging the gap between industry and academia.

Research Highlights

Prof. Krishna Asawa’s research focuses on advancing the fields of Cryptography & Network Security, and Artificial Intelligence & Cognitive Computing. Her work emphasizes the design of resilient and efficient security mechanisms for modern communication infrastructures, alongside the development of intelligent systems and emotionally aware cognitive architectures that enhance human–computer interaction. Her multidisciplinary research bridges theoretical innovation with practical implementation, as reflected in over 75 high-impact publications that have resulted in 10 research studies across emerging and interdisciplinary domains.

In the domain of AI and Cognitive Computing, Prof. Asawa’s research contributions span- A fuzzy case-based reasoning framework that was introduced to enable interpretable, confidence-aware decision-making in diagnostic and support systems. A spectral learning framework using canonical correlation analysis (CCA) was developed to model discourse units in turn-based dialogues, enhancing retrieval-based dialogue systems in low-resource settings. A multimodal affect recognition system combining audio, visual, and textual inputs was proposed for adaptive feedback in learning and healthcare contexts. Architectures such as EMIA and the programming language E-2APL were designed to embed affective reasoning in agents. Research in community-aware social computing explored influence modeling via community detection, while XML indexing and labelling schemes (CBSL, IPBL) addressed scalable data access.

Her contributions in the Network and Communication Security span –design of cryptographic hash functions (DSHA1, MNF256) based on Dither construction to withstand collision, preimage, and length-extension attacks. The privacy in 6LoWPAN IoT networks is achieved through the design of the PeDAAC protocol that enables secure IPv6 address allocation while protecting devices from spoofing and tracking. Further research addresses SDN security via proactive intelligent probing, dynamic routing, and topological obfuscation strategies to defend against link flooding attacks and achieve resilience in programmable network environments. In another research work, the policies for spectrum allocation in Cognitive Networks using multi-armed bandit decentralized learning models were proposed to support robust, adaptive communication in evolving digital environments.
