Prof. Navneet Kumar Sharma

Biography

Navneet Kumar Sharma is currently working as Professor in Physics and Materials Science and Engineering department, JIIT, Noida. He did MSc in Physics (specialization in Engineering Physics) from University of Roorkee (now IIT Roorkee) in 1997 and PhD from IIT Delhi in 2004. At present, he is actively involved in Teaching and Research related to various aspects of SPR based fiber optic sensors, plasmonics, photonics and has a vast experience of more than 21 years. He has supervised four PhD students and two more PhD students are doing PhD under his supervision.

Research Highlights

Conventional refractive index sensors based on different technologies have small sensitivity and little operating range. Surface plasmon resonance based fiber optic sensor senses the refractive index of samples using plasmonic materials. Currently, research is being made to enhance the sensitivity and operating range of SPR based fiber optic sensors in the visible and near infrared regions of electromagnetic spectrum.
