Trick or Treat 21: Read More:The Page Turner Society really turned it up this Halloween with it’s very first Trick or Treat event. It was held in the evening of 31st October and was an official celebration of spooky season. Students wishing to participate had to turn up dressed as their favourite fictional characters and share one thing they liked about that character and one thing they did not. Many students also turned up as spectators to help encourage the participants give their best. Some notable characters seen include Morticia Addams, Wednesday Addams, Severus Snape, Narcissa Malfoy, Monjolika, White bedsheet Ghost, Jim from The Office, MJ and many more. Everybody clearly enjoyed embodying the characters they grew up reading/ watching (and getting scared of) and it was an all-around fun and spooky experience. The hosts started off by introducing Page Turner Society and welcoming all participants and spectators to Trick or Treat. They explained the rules of the game. The participants were in for a fun surprise when they learned that in addition to speaking about their characters, they also had the opportunity to participate in a Dare to win extra points. They had to choose a number between 1 and 15 which would either lead them to a “Trick” or a “Treat”. If it was a Treat, they get the additional points for free, but if it was a “Trick” they had to perform the dare assigned in order to earn the points. All of the participants ended up really getting into the spirit of competition as they went through their respective dares. The dares were fun (and embarrassing!) but the participants were extremely good sports.

The Hult Prize: Read More: The Hult Prize is an annual, year-long competition that crowd-sources ideas from university level students after challenging them to solve a pressing social issue around topics such as food security, water access, energy, and education. It was founded by Ahmad Ashkar and is funded by Bertil Hult, the latter of whom, along with his family – founders of EF Education First – donates US$1 million in seed capital to help the winning team launch a social enterprise. The Prize is a partnership between Hult International Business School and the United Nations Foundation. Former U.S. president Bill Clinton selects the challenge topic and announces the winner each September; he mentioned it in a 2012 Time article about "the top 5 ideas that are changing the world for the better". The Hult Prize has been referred to as the "Nobel Prize for students" by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus. We had the event on 17th January in our college. Three participating teams were selected to represent JIIT at the Mumbai Impact Summit.
