Objective of the Programme

The Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication (BA JMC) program aims to equip students with a strong foundation in media and communication, combining theoretical knowledge with practical training. It is designed to develop skilled professionals capable of working across various media platforms, including print, broadcast, and digital. The program emphasizes the importance of ethical journalism, encouraging values such as truth, objectivity, and social responsibility. Graduates of this program have diverse career opportunities in fields such as print journalism, television and radio broadcasting, digital media, advertising, public relations, corporate communications, and content creation. With the rise of digital platforms and social media, there is an increasing demand for skilled professionals who can create, manage, and disseminate information effectively across various channels. The program also serves as a strong foundation for higher studies and research in media, communication, and related disciplines. Additionally, BA JMC graduates can pursue roles in government agencies, NGOs, international organizations, and media start-ups, making the program a gateway to dynamic and influential career paths both in India and globally.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates who have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from any recognized board, reflecting NEP’s emphasis on multidisciplinary education.
  • Minimum aggregate marks as specified by the institution (60% for general category, with 5% relaxation for SC/ST/OBC and other disadvantaged groups).
  • Candidate should have secured a Pass Grade in all subjects
  • Candidates with gap year (if any) between their 10+2 and admission to UG program will be required to submit a Gap Period Affidavit (available at university website)

Admission Process

  • Direct Admissions: Candidates with minimum 75% marks in each of the three subjects: English and any 2 subjects out of Accountancy, Business Studies, Computer Science/Informatics Practices, Economics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology/Applied Mathematics, Psychology, Geography, History, Political Science, Sociology, Entrepreneurship, and Legal Studies will be eligible for direct admissions
  • CUET-UG: Admission will be offered to eligible candidates based on marks obtained in CUET-UG General Test + English + one of the other subjects (Accountancy, Business Studies, Computer Science/Informatics Practices, Economics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology/Applied Mathematics, Psychology, Geography, History, Political Science, Sociology, Entrepreneurship, Legal Studies, Biochemistry/Biotechnology, Mass Media/Mass Communication)
  • JIIT-UGET: Admission will be offered to eligible candidates based on marks obtained in JIIT-UGET. A test of 2 hours duration will be conducted. There will be total 100 multiple choice questions (MCQs) from Quantitative Aptitude, General Knowledge/General Awareness, English language/English proficiency and Logical Reasoning/Reasoning Ability.

Duration of the Programme

  • This programme offers dual exit options according to NEP 2020:
  • Those exiting after three years (six semesters) will earn a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication Degree
  • Those exiting after four years (eight semesters) will earn B.A. (Honours with Research) in Journalism and Mass Communication Degree
