Dr. Sanjeev Pandey, Formerly, Senior Regional Director,has more than 23 years of experience of working in IGNOU, NAAC accredited A++, NIRF Rank 1, amongst the largest Open Universities in the world and former Director Distance Education Programmes, National Law institute University, Bhopal. He has headed and effectively managed high enrolment IGNOU Regional Centres with annual student enrolment ranging from 85000-125000 learners, thereby enhancing the credibility of the Open and Distance Learning and online learning by providing equitable access to a large segment of population in the country and abroad.Besides, he has also held the concurrent Charge of Registrar, MPDD, IGNOU.
He started his career as a Lecturer at Delhi University from where he moved to a Management Institute under the National Productivity Council. Thereafter, he joined Indian Council of Social Sciences Research (ICSSR) and later he joined IGNOU in the year 2000.
Dr. Pandey is an M. Com and has done his Ph.D. in International Business on the working of Export Houses and their variants and their contribution in the export promotion of the country. He was also awarded a short-term fellowship from ICSSR. Apart from this he has also done PGDDE from IGNOU. He was a part of Indian Delegation representing IGNOU to Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) to provide tele-education linkages through satellite and optical fibre network of the African countries through EDUSAT. He effectively coordinated the implementation and operationalization of SITs at various locations all over the country and their effective utilization through regular interactivity. Apart from this he has also visited USA, Singapore, Malaysia and Nepal.
He has developed a Certificate Programme in Water Harvesting and Management in collaboration with IGNOU’s School of Agriculture and has contributed towards the Post Graduate Diploma Programme in International Business Operations, School of Management Studies, IGNOU. Enabled the NLIU, in the design, development and delivery of four Distance/Online programmes, in various aspects of legal studies, during the year 2022-23. He has number of research papers, articles and chapters in various books/units of IGNOU study material to his credit. Besides, he has also contributed to different policy documents of the IGNOU. He has delivered numerous talks in the seminars, conferences, faculty development programmes etc.
He has contributed in a big way towards the expansion and reach of IGNOU and also strengthening and consolidation of the Learner Support System. He has the unique distinction of being conferred the IGNOU Gold Medal for Best Services Award of the University thrice as a Regional Director in the years 2004,2007 and 2015. He successfully harnessed the emerging dimensions of ICT and effectively integrated them in programme delivery using various e-platforms,, Gyan Darshan (Television); Gyanvani (Radio); Gyan Dhara (online-internet audio counselling service); for teaching and learning at IGNOU.
He had been Member of different Statutory Bodies of IGNOU, notable among them being, Board of Management, Academic Council, Research Council, Student Support Services Committee Research Council Standing Committee etc. Apart from this, he was also Chairperson/Convenor/Member of various Committees of IGNOU to look into different facets of expansion, and strengthening support mechanism.
