Microcontroller based systems and Robotics Hub [uCR]

Established in the year 2005, the Microcontroller Based Systems and Robotics Hub, the robotics hub of JIIT, has been continually cherishing and multiplying the talent, perseverance and skills of our young engineers in the field of Robotics.

Round every academic session, our hub runs on the objective to train students on the fundamentals of Robotics. By organising several workshops, exhibitions and theme Based events becoming one place for all Robotics Enthusiasts.

Various manual and automated robots are crafted by our hub members under the guidance of hub's student coordinators.

Our hub works as an organisation with four tiers:

Members/Participants, Volunteers, Coordinators and Advisors.

Students from first and second year join the hub as participants and are mentored by our skilled Coordinators to understand the essence of Robotics and gain knowledge. They apply that knowledge in the real world and come up with many different robots.

As a member of our hub, you will learn about microcontrollers and Arduino, automation, building from the scratch, project designing, and how to transform ideas into working projects along the journey.

We don't teach them the 'hows' to build a bot merely, but we also ensure that they taste the Essence of Robotics and understand the beauty of designing a project from scratch.

Some examples of the bots crafted by our team include Voice Controlled Automated Car, Bluetooth Controlled Obstacle Avoider Bot, Manual Robo Soccer Bot,  Manual Bot with Hand Mechanisms, LFR, Blueooth Controlled Obstacle Avoider, Hand Gesture Bot, Parking Lot Security System, Blind Stick, Bluetooth Controlled Chassis, RC Car, Drones.

Eventually, some of the participants who are both interested and capable get recruited to our hub as Volunteers after a short interview. We not only focus on building their knowledge but also their character, exposing them to functionality of the hub and celebrating team spirit.

Volunteering for our events, from designing posters, to writing content, to stocking our inventory, to designing tracks and challenges, to educating students, to building the theme and decor of our event, pays off as the best of core college memories and personality development.

Analogous to every academic session, our hub conducts our signature- and the most awaited ROBOTICS TRACK EVENT.

This event marks the identity of our hub.

The event forges the cumulative effort of our team and participants over a span of 30 days to one great night where several bots compete with each other and has been an attraction for all non members as well.

Participants are taught to build and design manual robots from scratch; and later on are challenged with an arduous track designed and built by our team in the main event.

One should see the amount of excitement exhibited by the crowd in the moment.

Every square inch of the atmosphere at the OAT at our campus vibrates with exhilarating cheers of the students.

This event happens to become dearly awaited by all students of JIIT

The Hub is led and managed by Coordinators and Chief Advisors, under the guidance from our faculty Advisor, Dr. Hema N,CSE and IT.

Exhibition 2022: Analogous to all previous academic sessions, our hub exhibited the talent, hard work and skills of our young engineers in the field of Robotics. Various manual and automated robots were designed by second year students under the guidance of our hub's coordinators. The motive was to showcase a glimpse of the legacy of our hub. The purpose of this exhibition, which was organised by the Microcontroller Based System and Robotics Hub of JIIT, was to bring together students who share a passion for robotics and display their love for robotics and urge the other students to participate and indulge in designing robots.

INNOVATION Workshop: The two technical hubs under Jaypee Youth Club (JYC) at JIIT Noida, namely RIBOSE (The Technical Hub, Biotechnology Department) and µCR (The Robotics and Micontroller Cell), announced the launch of event ‘KAKUSHIN’ (means innovation) to provide hand holding to students to learn use of Microcontrollers and Robotics to develop prototypes for providing Healthcare and Sustainability solutions to society at large. The Orientation session of the event was organized on 30 August 2022 to commemorate “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” in the month when India completed 75th year of Independence and marching ahead toward a self-sustained nation.  The students from different Departments participate in the orientation session in which Dr. Ashwani Mathur, Coordinator RIBOSE and Innovation Ambassador (IIC, JIIT Noida) appraised the student about the step by step approaches of translating prototype design through TRLs, MRLs and IRLs.

In coming days the event will progress by training students on working of microcontrollers, training on prototype design and the way forward. The event was well appreciated by the student participants.

Technophilia 3.0: The purpose of this event will be to showcase the technical talents through projects made by first year students under the mentorship of the second year volunteers of the hub. The aim of this event is to encourage them to bring newer and innovative technical ideas. This will give them the platform to think of their own ideas and make a basic report on the idea they have chosen. Hardware implementation is not kept compulsory as this will restrict their prototype. Presentation of the ideas will take place during the event.

    • Brief Description:The event comprises of 4 sub events names as Brazilerio (Robo Soccer), Robo en Rio (Autonomous Event), Fugaçasador (Manual Event) and Inovacao (Innovation Event).
    • Brazilerio: This is the classical Robot Soccer event conducted by us. In this a football arena is set up with a properly marked football ground, floodlights and a live scoreboard. Two teams are required to come up with their bots to fight in it. These teams fight to score maximum goals against each other in a time limit of 15 min with two halves of 7.5 min each. The team to score the maximum goals wins the round.
    • Fugaçasador: This event is for the manual robotics enthusiast participants. In this, a team of maximum 4 members are allowed to run their manually controlled robots on a track laid. The track is built with creative and unique ideas which consists of various turns, inclines, declines etc. that fully test the maneuverability and control of the team. The teams are supposed to complete the track in a given time frame. Team that completes the track with minimum penalties and in minimum time frame wins the prize.
    • Inovacao: This event comprises of two rounds: First being a quiz and round two a creative test. In quiz round, the teams are required to complete questionnaire that comprised of mix questions related to the field of robotics, computer science and electronics. Second round was based on the creative abilities of the team. In this, they are supposed to build something useful from a list of components provided to them. The best team takes the title.
    • Robo en Rio: In this event, the teams (each comprising of maximum of 4 members) are supposed to run their line follower robot on a track designed by the organizers. The team to complete the track in minimum time with maximum accuracy win the title.
