Biography

Dr Manisha Singh is a distinguished academician and researcher with a rich background in nanomedicine, pharmaceutical engineering, and neurosciences particularly focusing on advanced translational drug delivery systems for neurodegenerative diseases (NDDs) and respiratory medicine. She currently serves in multiple roles across various prestigious institutions, showcasing her diverse expertise and commitment to advancing scientific knowledge in healthcare. Dr Singh had a successful stint as a Lecturer at the Department of Biotechnology, JIIT, Noida, from August 2009 to July 2015, following her role as a Research Associate in the same department (2008). These roles marked the beginning of her academic career, laying the foundation for her subsequent achievements. Her journey in neurosciences began with a Fellowship in Neurological Rehabilitation (FNR) at the Neurorehabilitation unit, Apollo Hospital, New Delhi, from April 2007 to May 2008. She also served as a Lecturer at the Department of Neurosciences, Institute of Physical Rehabilitation and Applied Medicines (IPRAMS), and as an Assistant Lecturer and Clinical Demonstrator at the Department of Neurorehabilitation Sciences, Institute of Applied Medicine, and Research (IAMR), India. During her clinical practice, she has worked on improving motor functions in hemiparetic stroke cases, Cerebral palsy, and Neurodegenerative complications. She is the recipient of the Meritorious Student Medal during her graduation.

Since August 2016, Dr Singh has been an Assistant Professor at the Centre for Emerging Diseases, Department of Biotechnology, Jaypee Institute of Information Technology (JIIT), Noida, India. Expanding her research horizons further, in March 2023, Dr Singh was appointed as a Visiting fellow at the Faculty of Health, Graduate School of Public Health, University of Technology Sydney, Australia. This position aligns with her ongoing involvement with the Australian Research Consortium in Complementary and Integrative Medicine (ARCCIM) at the same university, further underscoring her commitment to integrative medical practices followed by her appointment as a Research Scientist in DE`AURORA, Australia. Before her current role, Dr Singh was a Research Scientist at the Molecular Dementia and Memory Research Lab, Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute, Flinders University, Adelaide, South Australia. She’s also the recipient of the Global Talent Initiative Program (GTI), in Australia.

RESEARCH HIGHLIGHTS

Dr Singh’s research group is primarily involved in the area of targeted drug delivery and natural product-based formulations for neurological disorders. Her current research work accounts for the fabrication of various drug formulation delivery systems (Polymeric/metallic/PLGA nanoparticles, microemulsions, nanoemulsions, nanosuspensions, micro/nanospheres, nano coacervates, hydrogels/nano gels, drug conjugated graphene oxides nanocarriers and transdermal patches) targeted for neurological/neurovascular/neuropathic disorders treatment. She focuses majorly on analysing the neuroprotective effects of various Indian/Chinese/Australian native plant extracts or essential oils along with novel formulation development of standard drug compounds for targeted drug delivery. Further, her work significantly contributed to the understanding of molecular aspects of dementia and memory-related disorders and her research focuses on advancements in translational approaches to drug delivery in neurological and respiratory medicine. Dr Singh's multifaceted career, spanning academia, research, and clinical practice, reflects her dedication to the fields of biotechnology, pharmaceutical engineering, and neurosciences. Her contributions continue to impact these fields significantly, both in India and internationally.
