RESEARCH HIGHLIGHTS
She has been working to develop advanced therapeutics from natural products after establish the mechanism of action of the herbal products against diabetes, asthma, respiratory infections, skin cancer, neurological disorders and COVID 19. Her group is also trying to work upon medicinal herbs for their preventive and therapeutic potential in case of tobacco smoke induced toxic conditions. The herbs which are majorly worked upon by the group are: Salacia oblonga, Adhatoda vasica, Ginkgo biloba, Picrorhiza kurroa, Punica granatum, Musa paradisia, Citrus limetta, Rose, Amaltas, Marigold, Jasmine, Kaner etc. Her goal is to establish the mechanism of action of the “Old Great Indian Herbal medicines so that they would be globally accepted. She has got grant from AYUSH, NMPB, Govt of India on Scientific Documentation and digitization for selected Indian medicinal plants for antidiabetic and other activities” in 2009.
Dr Rachana is a life time member of Indian Pharmaceutical Association, Biotechnology Society of India, Medicinal and Aromatic Plant Association of India and Mumbai Haematology Group.
