The Department of Biotechnology at JIIT research infrastructure and enabling facilities has contributed to its success in carving a niche for itself on the national biotech education map. The department has consistently maintained its ranking in top 10 biotechnology departments for education quality and research infrastructure amongst private institutions offering Biotech courses in India (Source: Biospectrum, a leading Biotechnology Magazine).The research laboratories operate in more than 800 sq. m. of combined laboratory space accommodating a core facility with high-end instruments and dedicated curricular and research laboratories to undertake research in priority areas of biotechnology with emphasis on applied research.
There is regular up-grading of state-of-the-art equipments in both core and enabling technologies for maintaining research training standards. The laboratories are compliant with the bio-safety norms and provide necessary equipments for biochemical, microbiological and molecular techniques such as protein expression and purification, electrophoresis studies, immuno-technology studies, DNA/RNA isolation, molecular cloning methodologies, PCR, functional genomics applications, cell culture technology, and bioinformatics software applications that constitute the methodological repertoire of biotechnology research.
